Gilles Plains Primary School has a team of highly-dedicated staff who provide students with an orderly, rich and rigorous educational experience including a strong arts focus. We are regular Wakakirri entrants.
Our vision, 'Building Foundations for Life Success', reflects our focus on the development of literacy skills through the use of our synthetic phonics-based reading program. The surrounding suburbs are undergoing urban renewal and we have a highly-transient population. Strong intervention programs are designed to meet the learning needs of Aboriginal and disadvantaged students in addition to English as a Second Language students.
Student wellbeing is addressed through effective social development programs which aim to impart our agreed values of respect, responsibility, perseverance and courage. In addition, 'Student Voice' and leadership are highly valued.
The school is part of a campus that includes health services and community childcare so we are able to provide support services to families in an integrated manner. A community garden enables students to grow food to prepare and cook in our school kitchen.
